About Your Acupuncturist
Doug Suffield was born in Toronto, Canada as a dual citizen of Canada and the United States. He lived in Oakville, Ontario; Montreal, Quebec, and Marblehead, Massachusetts before he moved to Bradenton, Florida to attend The David Leadbetter Golf Academy now known as IMG Sports Academy.
While at IMG Doug competed in many local, regional, and national golf tournaments. Doug also had the honor of being voted MVP and Captain of his High School Golf team his Senior year. Doug attended Florida State University and graduated with a triple major; Political Science, Anthropology, and History.
After graduation, Doug returned to Canada and became involved in mineral exploration in British Columbia and Alaska. While in Canada, he took courses in Industrial Safety and eventually became an Emergency Medical Responder in Calgary, Alberta where he worked in the remote oil fields of Northern Canada. After a number of years in the oil fields, Doug decided to pursue a career in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, believing that Eastern Medicine coupled with Western Medicine would greatly benefit patients.
Doug began his Master’s studies in Gainesville, Florida but desired a more challenging experience so he transferred to AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine in Austin, Texas. While at AOMA Doug was an enthusiastic student in the school's clinics and was chosen in his senior year to participate in a six-month internship at the Central Texas Veteran's Affairs Hospital. Doug went on to gain is National Board Certification in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and is fully licensed by the NCCAOM and the Texas Medical Board.
Doug's love of Traditional Chinese Medicine and living in Texas is matched with a love of nature, golf, and quality time spent with his wife, Angela, and dog, Sawyer. He also enjoys cooking, hiking, and traveling. Doug is looking forward to bringing Hill Country Acupuncture to the Blush Beauty Bar Team as an Acupuncturist and will start seeing new patients on June 4, 2020.
